e.l.f Cosmetics Order Review

So after a long week waiting for my new makeup from e.l.f, it finally came last night! Needless to say, I spent my Friday night hanging out with myself and playing with my makeup. [Don't act like you're not jealous]. I felt the need to do a review of the items I purchased because some are just too good of a find to not share. I bought a 10 piece set of brushes (for $10), a 100 color eyeshadow palette (for $10), eye primer (for $1), and an eyebrow kit (for $3).

The only thing I am really disappointed in is the eye primer. It was 90% dried out and what wasn't dry was very shimmery  and too thin to prime your eyelid. The best way I can describe it is too runny. I like my primer to be thicker and creamy. Now, the consistency may be due to the fact that the bottle is mostly dried up, but regardless I will not purchase this item again. I will stick with my Kat Von D high voltage eye primer (for $15) or I may try the Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion (for $18) because it has really great reviews. If you have tried these or any others that are worth trying, let me know below in the comments section. [I'm always looking for something better].
The set of brushes I got are pretty good. They are a little softer than I usually like but, hey, I got ten brushes for ten dollars =)
I also bought an extra smudge brush, because this set only came with the smudge sponge and I am not a fan of the sponge. I would recommend this set for anyone who is in need of a new set of brushes on the cheap cheap. But, if you have the money to spend, I will always stand by MAC brushes. Start with the ones you use most and expand from there.

So far, I like the eyebrow kit from e.l.f. I usually just use a dark brown eyeshadow but this kit is quickly growing on me. On the left is a pigmented wax you use to fill in and shape your eyebrows while also sticking them in place. On the right you have a finishing powder which keeps the eyebrows from looking shiny and waxy. I use my own brushes when applying these simply because I need a long handle when applying any and all makeup. The only reason I keep the small brushes that come with items like these is when I take my makeup on the go and can't really tote my normal sized brushes around with me. The brushes are decent quality, just not my cup of tea.

And now...for my favorite item out of this entire purchase [drumroll please]...the 100 color eyeshadow palette!!

My dear friends, I am in love. I obviously haven't tried all of the colors but I swatched a lot of them and they all have pretty good payoff. There is a nice mix of matte and shimmer shadows and all of the ones I have tried out/swatched already have a decent pigmentation. The best thing about this palette...TEN DOLLARS!!! I like to wear a lot of brown/bronze and this palette has a lot of browns in it. This is great palette if you're new to creating new looks with your eye makeup. It has 100 different colors for you to experiment with and [my favorite part] cheapy cheap!!

For any and all of these products visit:

They are currently running a special: Free 27 piece mini makeup collection with any $10 or more purchase! Whhhaaaaaat!?!? I love this site! Just enter the code MINI at checkout.

That's it for my e.l.f order. Overall, I was very impressed and I am sure I will continue to purchase their products. I hope this helped you in your decision to/not to purchase e.l.f products. Leave any questions, concerns, or comments below =)

Dear Fellow Coffee Fiends,

Just in case you were not already aware, I love coffee. I am very picky with flavored coffee. The only flavored coffee I would ever drink was iced coffee. But I have recently crossed over into flavored hot coffees. Let me get one thing straight with you here and now, I like coffee, I do NOT drink cappuccinos, lattes, or anything from Starbucks. I actually have a serious issue with Starbucks. Their coffee is WAY overpriced and I don't like their coffee AT ALL. I also do not like Wawa coffee, it's like coffee flavored water. I only drink Wawa coffee if I am desperate for my caffeine and there are no other options. My favorite non flavored coffee has to be from McDonalds since they switched to premium roast. I can drink their coffee black, it's so rich and has a great flavor. Dunkin Donuts coffee is also one of my faves. They have the best flavored coffees, in my opinion. You have to be careful if you are particular with how much cream and sugar you like in your coffee because it is NEVER the same. I usually ask for my coffee black with cream and sugar on the side after an incident in which they put a half a gallon of sugar in my coffee and I almost went into a sugar coma. Also, be careful with flavored coffees as they are usually already sweetened. Don't put your usual amount of sugar!!

But I digress..

..the purpose of this post is to introduce you to (if you haven't already met) the new Caramel Apple coffee from Dunkin Donuts. It is actually AMAZING!!! If you haven't already tried it, get it NOW!! I think it is only going to be around for the fall and I am going to be extremely upset when they take it away from me. So before you go emptying your wallet for a tall Starbucks coffee, stop at Dunkin and give them $1.50 for a medium caramel apple hot coffee with cream and sugar [it's delicious as an iced coffee too, but it's cold out]. I hope you try it and I hope you love it as much as I do. Maybe, if enough people jump on this bandwagon, they will keep it year-round! But one can only dream....

Welcome

Well, I am super extra bored and I am sick of watching TV shows. So I decided to start a blog. Random..I know..but here we go. I do not really have any direction I would like to take with this yet so my posts may be really all over the place until I find something I can write on a daily basis (ha! Who am I kidding..weekly basis, maybe?!?)

So I have decided I need to really make some changes in my life for the sake of my sanity. I have, in a sense, let myself go. I have gained a little more weight than I care to share, I barely ever do my hair anymore, and my daily make up application consists of blush and mascara. Granted, I have a boyfriend who thinks I look beautiful no matter what I do (this is all HIS fault! hehe) but I have come to a point where I just do not feel very good about myself anymore.

I went to two bridal showers on Sunday and decided while I was getting ready that it was going to be a very long day and the least I could do was make myself pretty. Well, let me tell you, I felt AWESOME! I spent a good part of my morning curling my hair and applying some pretty sick eyeshadow and if I do say so myself, I was looking pretty hot! [Even though my pants were fitting a little too tight]. So I decided that I needed to overhaul my makeup collection and start making myself look like a pretty human being again. I ordered some new make up and brushes from both Sephora and e.l.f cosmetics. Don't judge me, e.l.f cosmetics has a TON of great reviews and their makeup is super extra cheap so I will have to update you on the products when I get them. Ohhhhhhh...maybe I can do a make up blog!!! Not that I am an expert on it or anything..hmmmm...let's see how the first entry goes..

Anyway, I received my make up from Sephora and I am super in LOVE!! I purchased a little kit (because I am ALWAYS looking to cut corners and save money). It's called Eye Studio: Get The Look - Smoky Eye. You can find it in the Sale section on their website.

The mascara is absolutely useless, throw it away. All the makeup on the brush is at the very tip of the brush and it actually seems a little dried out. The Stila Smudgepot is the whole reason I bought this set, and it was so worth it! With the right angled eyeliner brush, this is just the best eyeliner in my opinion.

The Bare Minerals Glimmer is also awesome, I use it as a highlighter right underneath my brows (it goes with almost every color combo you might want to use), and I also use it in the corners of my eyes to open up my eyes a bit so I don't look as tired as I always am. The Smashbox eyeshadow in Rapture is beautiful. I haven't actually used it as a shadow yet because it is a little dark and I don't know how I feel about rocking super dark bar makeup to work on a daily basis. But I do use it for my eyebrows, the color actually matches my brows perfectly so I use a flat, small cream shadow brush and the eyeshadow to define my eyebrow shape and color.

Now, if you do an online order with Sephora, you will get 3 free samples with every order. Also, I am known in my office for being the promo code queen. I found a promo code for Kat Von D High Voltage Eye Primer sample...LOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE!!!!! I absolutely love this stuff. I never really used eye primer before and now I can't imagine going without it ever again. Even my cheapy cheap shadows don't crease all day. Here is a link to Sephora's promo code page on retailmenot.com (the BEST site for promo codes) Sephora promos. Certain websites let you use more than one promo code per order, I can't remember if Sephora is one of them, but check it out!

Whew, that was way longer than I expected! I wasn't expecting my first blog post to go in the beauty direction, but hey..hope you enjoyed!
Stop back soon for more random randomness! =)
